About this event

Our next edition of Culture Conversations takes place on Tuesday 29 September at 1pm. Join us on Zoom for an open discussion on the topic of Peace. This time, we are delighted to be joined by guest speaker Laura Nyahuye, a Coventry artist and designer.

Before you join the session, we invite you to listen to the spoken word piece by Laura Nyahuye and reflect on your own associations with peace. Click here to listen on YouTube.

  • What type of artform speaks to you of peace? Is it the smell of a traditional dish? The textures of fabrics? A memory? An image?
  • What’s the word for peace in your mother tongue? Laura’s word is rugare – a Shona word.

Once you have considered these questions, we invite you to share a picture, a dance, an object, a place, a fabric, a texture - or something else entirely - that speaks peace to you. You can send these in advance to info@coventry2021.co.uk, or bring them with you on Zoom on the day. Or just join us to share your thoughts or simply listen. All are welcome.

Once we have heard from Laura Nyahuye, we will divide into small breakout discussion groups to ensure all voices are heard. Feedback from these discussions will be presented to the other groups at the end of the session.

Advance sign-up necessary

Spaces on this month’s edition of Culture Conversations are free and limited to ensure all participants can be involved in the workshop.
